WE BUILD SOUTH DAKOTA!

WORKING FOR YOU

Big Stone II is a $1.6 billion, coal-fired power plant.  Construction is scheduled to begin in mid 2009.  The project will run approximately 40 months, with a completion date set for 2013.

The Eastern South Dakota Building and Construction Trades Council will be coordinating the construction employment.  For more information about Big Stone II and to be put on the list for employment, please fill out the Put Me on The List for Big Stone II form.

At the peak of construction, around 1,500 construction workers will be needed for the various crafts building the plant.

The location of the job is just outside of Big Stone City, on the South Dakota and Minnesota border, about half way between Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Fargo, North Dakota.

QUOTABLE QUOTES

"I am here to say that in a great cause these labor organizations, despised and weak and outlawed as they generally are, have stood for the poor, they have stood for the weak, they have stood for every human law that was ever placed upon the statute books. They stood for human life, they stood for the father who was bound down by his task, they stood for the wife, threatened to be taken from the home to work by his side, and they have stood for the little child who was also taken to work in their places--that the rich could grow richer still, and they have fought for the right of the little one, to give him a little of life, a little comfort while he is young."

--Clarence Darrow, at the trial of
William "Big Bill" Heywood, 1907
